Ultimate Chocolate Chip Bars

These soft and chewy homemade chocolate chip bars are the ultimate dessert to bake up. Even without added salt, they are bursting with loads of flavor; that you would expect from a chocolate chip cookie. How did I make these still so tasty? I added more vanilla to the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup whole white wheat flour

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1 stick + 3 Tbsp. butter, softened

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 1/4 tsp. vanilla

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 cup + 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 15x10" jelly roll pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine flours and baking soda.

  3. In another bowl, beat butter, oil, sugars, and vanilla. Add one egg at a time, mixing well after each one.

  4. Pour the wet mixture into the flour mixture and stir until combined. Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  5. Spread mixture into pan and sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup chips on top. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Consume them warm or serve cooled; either way, you will enjoy them.
