Are Carbs “bad?”
Our diets should consist mainly of complex carbs (nutrient-dense) - grains, starchy vegetables, legumes, fruits, and dairy.
I guide my kids & my clients to create a healthy balance with their food choices.
Creating small behavior changes over time can lead to BIG REWARDS! Below are ways to help reduced added sugar intake.
1. Limiting sugar-sweetened beverages. Try fruit-infused waters!
2. Keeping sweets such as candy, cupcakes, donuts, etc. in moderation.
3. Reading labels and choosing the lowest amount of added sugar on the label. Look for <7 grams!
4. Add fruit to cereals & parfaits to naturally sweeten breakfast.
5. The American Heart Association recommends swapping out sugar in recipes by using equal parts of applesauce.
Balance is the key!
