Naturally Sweetened Applesauce

There is something about fall that I love and it's not just because my birthday falls in those months. It's all the beautiful fall colors, festive activities, and the delicious treats we can make with apples.

I love how all the leaves turn from green to vibrant warm shades of red, orange, and yellow. The fun hayrides, pumpkin patches, and my favorite, apple picking! I love finding apples amongst the trees with my family and deciding what tasty treat to make with them first.

Over the years I have made dried apple slices, Cinnamon Crunch Apple Muffins (in my recipe section), my first apple pie in 2020, and my favorite homemade applesauce.

My mom was the one that got me hooked on making my own. She has her technique and I mastered mine, but no matter how you make it, they both turn out amazing! If you think it is way too complicated, it's really simple and absolutely delicious when finished.

Directions:

1. Peel, core, & cut apples (I used a mixture of Empire, Cortland, & Gala)

2. Place into a saucepan

3. Simmer on med-low until softened; occasionally stirring

4. Remove from heat and gently mash

5. Slightly cool, top with cinnamon (optional) & enjoy
