Healthy Holiday Tip #5

Don’t wait until the New Year to create your GOAL; start TODAY! Creating a SMART goal is a strategy to help you achieve your long-term goals; it’s measurable, concise, and is trackable.

Research shows when you write down your goals, then you are more likely to achieve them! Below is mine!

Mine – I’m building on last year’s goal!

Here is my fitness goal. I continue to build on my fitness confidence after I herniated a disk two years ago.

S = I want to run on the treadmill a minimum of 5 mins, three times a week by 1/31/21.

M = I will start by increasing my walking pace on the treadmill to 4.5 mph and incorporate 1 min. intervals, 3x/week. (I have just started doing this and it is HUGE for me!)

A = If I add 1 min. to my run each week over the next four weeks, I could achieve this goal by the end of this year.

R = I will reach this goal to improve my running duration by scheduling a time in my day to exercise.

T = I will try this for the next month and keep track of my workouts on my GARMIN app.
